How to Clean Ereader Screen - The safe and proper way

Is your ereader screen dirty, fingerprints all over the screen, and its making it hard to read by reducing visibility and it can lead to scratches on the screen from the small dust particles if you don't clean it for a long time. This guide will show you how to clean your ereader screen safely and properly.

Things you will need -
  • Microfiber cloth - If you don't have one then you can use any soft fiber cloth, make sure its totally clean.
  • A water sprayer - Or just water to dampen the cleaning cloth.

Steps to properly clean a E-ink screen Reader -

1. Turn Off Your Ereader - Switch off the device first, so that when cleaning it avoids accidental touch.

2. Dry Wipe - Gently wipe the screen with a dry microfiber cloth or any soft fiber cloth you have. Microfiber cloths are ideal because they can trap dust particles without scratching the surface. Try to remove the dusts or smudges and don't use rough cloth like tissues, paper towels, it can damage the screen and leave small fibers behind on the screen making it even more dirty.

3. Wet Wipe - If dry wipes don't clean the screen completely, you gotta use a lightly dampened cloth. Lightly dampen the cloth with water, just give it some moisture.

4. Don't Spray on the Screen - If you have a water spray, don't directly spray it to the screen, it can go inside the device, and you know what water does to electronics. Always use spray on the cloth first, then wipe the screen.

5. Be Gentle - Wipe the corners gently and avoid too much pressure on the screen.

6. Dry Wipe (again) - After wiping the screen with wet cloth, use a dry part of the cloth and clean the entire screen again leaving no dust and fingerprints.

7. Let it Dry - Leave the device to dry naturally after cleaning then turn it on and its ready to use.

1. Using screen protectors

Try to use a screen protector for extra safety, if you are someone who doesn't like to use screen protectors because they reduces the touch experience, then the next tip is for you.

2. Store your device safely

If I leave my device on a table it catches dust. That's why I cover all my devices when not in use, this way they don't get dirty. Just use a simple cloth, make sure the cloth isn't made of rough fibers.

3. Keep your hands clean

Try to use clean hands when using your ereader, this will help to avoid transferring oil and dirt from your fingers onto the screen. When you are reading and eating something like chips, avoid using your fingers, use a spoon or fork instead. I do this to avoid oil and crumbs getting on the screen.
