Image
12 Clear Signs You’re Studying The Wrong Way (and what to do instead) After years of studying, I realized these are the mistakes I was making while studying. Every students should watch out for these signs and take countermeasures to study the right way. 1) You understand while reading, but forget later If things make sense only when you’re looking at the page, that’s a sign you’re doing passive study. You are just re-reading without retaining anything. You have to actively engage with the information not just passive. Use the Active recall technique Close the book Try to write/say what you remember. I prefer writing. Then check and correct 2) You keep highlighting and rewriting notes Highlighting feels productive but often doesn’t build memory. Again the same thing not actively interpreting things. You have to make your brain work. Do this instead - Make short notes only Create Q/A format notes Use flashcards for formulas & definitions 3) You forget everything after 2-3 days This...

Image
Do you forget what you study after a few days? Memorizing faster is important but retaining for long time is what truly matters. With the right approach anyone can memorize information quickly and retain it for months Why most students fail to memorize and retain Most student try to memorize by reading notes again and again Studying everything without breaks cramming before exams These are counterproductive and thus overload the brain and you don't remember anything in the exam. Image
Yes, there are days when studying feels impossible, not because I don't want to study but because my mind feels heavy. I guess that's what people mean by Brain Fog. On other days I can just take a break from studying, but when exam is near and you need to complete the syllabus its crucial to study otherwise I have to compromise on marks. This is exactly how I felt on those days, and if you are feeling the same, this is for you. Feeling Stuck I sit at my study table with all my notes and books, but I can't study, can't even get started on a topic. Just thinking about how much I had to study made me feel more stuck.  Ironically, I knew that if I started at that exact moment, I could still finish the syllabus on time. But knowing that didn’t make starting any easier. Delaying Study I kept thinking " If I don't study now, it will only get worse ." If only it was that easy and I magically started studying with full focus. That’s when I realized something import...
