Kobo Nia Hard Reset to Factory Default - Simple Guide

How does a reset help?
Sometimes some minor glitches can be fixed through a reset or maybe you want to start fresh or you need to delete everything on your device because you are selling it to another person. Whatever the reason might be, I'm gonna show you how you can hard reset your Kobo Nia reader. Let's get started.
If your screen is Frozen and you can't access the Menu
A reset can be useful to fix lag, unresponsive, and screen freeze. If your screen is frozen or stuck to a page how do you fix it? You can perform a reset. But in this case, the screen is frozen and you can't access the settings to reset the device. That's why you have to manually reset the Nia. Here is how you can do this -
- Plug in the charger - First, you should plug in the charger
- Turn off the device - Then press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to turn off the device till it shows "Powered Off" on the screen. (in case the device is on with a frozen screen)
- Do the Reset - After the device is turned off, again press the power button for 30 seconds and the screen will light up showing Restoring and the process will be completed.
- Set up your device - After resetting is done set up your Kobo Nia like a new Device.
If your screen is not Frozen and you can access the Menu
In this case, follow the steps given below to reset the device -
- Open the Menu then go to settings
- From settings go to device information
- Under device info go to Advanced
- Then tap on Factory Reset
- Then confirm that you want to reset the device. This will wipe everything on the Kobo and make it like a new device when you first unboxed it. After that, you can set up the device and log in to your Kobo accounts to access your books and services.
After the Reset
- Update Firmware: Make sure your device is running the latest firmware. Go to settings and update your software.
- Restore Data: If you have backed up your data, restore it now.
- Re-download Books: Log in to your Kobo account to re-download your books.
