The scheme is being introduced as an alternative to the existing Nijut Moina Asoni, which currently supports girl students.

Who Can Apply for Babu Asoni?

A student must meet all the following conditions to be eligible:

Eligibility Criteria ✅

1. Must be a male student
2. Must be a permanent resident of Assam
3. Must be studying in 1st year of UG or 1st year of PG
4. Must be enrolled in a government or provincialised college/university
5. Family annual income should be below ₹4 lakh

Who Is Not Eligible? ❌

1. Students in 2nd year or above
2. Married undergraduate students
3. Students enrolled in private or self-financed institutions
4. Students already receiving:

• Banikanta Kakati Merit Award (UG)
• Mukhyamantrir Jibon Prerana Scheme (PG

Babu Asoni Amount

Under the Babu Asoni scheme:

UG First Year Students

👉 ₹1,000 per month for 10 months

Total: ₹10,000 per year

PG First Year Students

👉 ₹2,000 per month for 10 months

Total: ₹20,000 per year

College-level verification by principals or registrars
